The NYC Tour Guide Collective
Independent Guides working as a co-op to further the success of Independent Guides in NYC.
We need to pool resources and talent. It’s about marketing without working with corporations like Viator, Get Your Guide, Airbnb, etc. They continue to raise fees while the profiles of great independent guides are consistently getting harder to find.
Our focus is on the visitor concerned about Shop Small & Local. It’s about supporting hard-working knowledgeable local guides and ensuring the money visitors spend on tours stays in the community instead of going in the pockets of faceless corporations.
We are asking that any guide interested in the co-op be willing to:
Have a regular schedule of tours for visitors to book via the collective but also be open to offering private and custom tours.
All tours must be independent of any corporate tour company
Keep bio, schedule and costs up to date on scheduling platform and website
Assist with the successful operation of this collective via collective fees (to be determined), marketing, mentoring & recruiting members, recommending fellow member tours, and contributing to group improvements and innovations.
Treat everyone in the collective as kindly and professionally as you would like to be treated.
Be actively involved in the group. Roles and expectations of time are being worked on. We need your involvement to get this moving.
