Brooklyn Bridge
The Brooklyn Bridge started as a grand idea of a single man and changed the world. Though he never lived to see the bridge built, John Roebling believed that a bridge spanning the East River between Manhattan and Brooklyn was possible. It would be the longest bridge ever built. He proposed a suspension bridge that was cable stayed. He even needed to have the cables designed and built as there had never been cables built like that before.
