Meet Alison

I grew up on the ranchlands of California, a very different part of the state than what most people think of and a wonderful, beautiful part of the USA. My family grew oranges, olives, and avocados in the valley, my uncles raised cattle in the foothills. But as someone in love with theater and the arts I dreamed of moving to NYC from a young age. At 17 I had the amazing opportunity to do just that and have called it home ever since!

If my dad were to read this he would correct me and say that I now live in Hoboken, New Jersey, a tiny city that’s just a mile square in size across the Hudson River from Manhattan and today known as the “6th Borough of NYC.” Many people often tell me I must live so far away because I’m in another state but the truth is that I have one of the shortest commutes to many parts of Manhattan & Brooklyn when compared to many of my tour guide buddies!

My career in theater and music has taken me all over the USA and the world but I always find myself drawn back to the NYC region. I love this city and love showing it off. I started working as a tour guide 8 years ago to do just that. Since then my tour guide work has extended to riverboats on America’s rivers, Washington, D.C., Florida, and the region of my childhood, Nor Cal. Still, I find myself drawn back here to show off the city.

There are so many neighborhoods I enjoy sharing but when people ask me what my favorite tour is I tell them, “I can’t say it’s my favorite but it’s my most important, the World Trade Center.” As someone who was a teenager on her own in the city on that day, it took me over ten years to talk about it, now it is important to me to help guide folks through the site and the history of the World Trade Center.

Some of my other favorite tours include Greenwich Village - the neighborhood I first lived in in NYC! - Central Park, Chinatown, the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island, Brooklyn Bridge, and of course my neighborhood of Hoboken. I am also a photographer and can offer photo tours, showing you a bit of the city while taking professional photos of your time here. I look forward to meeting you!
